To the entry (Bertold Hummel)
Reverse verse:
Let us rejoice in the Lord, let us come before his presence with thanksgiving.
Psalm 91:
It is good to praise the Lord, to sing your name, O Most High.
To proclaim your mercy in the morning and your faithfulness in the night.
Reverse verse.
How sublime are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts!
The unintelligent cannot comprehend it, never will the fool recognise it.
Verse.
May the wicked flourish like grass,
May those who do evil shine brightly:
They are destined to perish forever,
but you, Lord, are exalted for ever.
Reverse verse.
Behold, your enemies, O Lord, behold, your enemies must perish, the evildoers will all be scattered.
And my eye looks down on the enemies, glad tidings I hear of the wicked who oppose me.
Reverse verse.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, so it is now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Kehrvers.
Interlude (Bertold Hummel)
Hallelujah.
Sing to the Lord a new song, let his praise resound in the congregation of the pious.
Let Israle rejoice in his body, let the children of Sion rejoice in their king
Hallelujah.
Let them praise his name with round dances, let them sing to him with timpani and harp!
Let the saints rejoice in glory,
rejoice in their camps.
Hallelujah.
For the offertory (Heino Schubert)
Reverse verse:
Rejoice unto the Lord, all ye earth, in joy serve the Lord!
Psalm 26
For communion (Heino Schubert)
Reverse verse:
Where goodness and love, there God dwells.
Psalm 144
The German Psalm Proper was composed by the composers Bertold Hummel and Heino Schubert for liturgical use and printed by Orbis-Verlag Münster in 1967. In the first 4 years after its publication, the choral score was sold 4000 times and became part of the permanent repertoire of Catholic church choirs. Today, the beautiful-sounding work is available from Carus-Verlag Stuttgart.
