WESPE

Since 2008, the Bertold Hummel Foundation has been awarding special prizes in the category 'Best Interpretation of a Work of Classical Modernism' every year at the Special Prize Weekends (WESPE) as part of the Jugend musiziert competition.

Interpretation competition for school pupils

In the anniversary year 2025, the Tonkünstlerverband Würzburg e.V. (Würzburg Association of Composers) held its first video competition for Bavarian schoolchildren in honour of the composer.

The next competition will take place in autumn 2027.

Bertold Hummel Competition

Between 2005 and 2022, the Bertold Hummel Foundation, in collaboration with the Bavarian music academies in Würzburg, Munich, Augsburg and Regensburg, organised ten editions of the Bertold Hummel Competition for instrumental students from all music academies and conservatories in selected European countries.
