Logo Hummel Stiftung

The Bertold Hummel Foundation was established by his wife and six sons following the death of the composer Bertold Hummel (1925-2002) in 2003. Following the death of Inken Hummel in 2019, the Hummel brothers are partners in the foundation.

The Bertold Hummel Foundation promotes the academic study of Bertold Hummel's estate and supports all measures that serve to understand Bertold Hummel as a person, his works and his work as an important representative of German cultural life in the second half of the 20th century. The foundation has also set itself the task of promoting cultural events that place Bertold Hummel's work at the centre of their programmes, as well as giving young composers a forum and conveying an understanding of modern classical music to young people.
