In Memoriam Anton Bruckner, op. 91a
Organ works by Hindemith, Genzmer and Hummel
This organ CD was produced out of a desire to pay fitting tribute to the remarkable convergence of several anniversary celebrations between 1994 and 1996. 16 November 1995 marked the centenary of Paul Hindemith’s birth; Harald Genzmer, who joined Hindemith’s circle in 1928, turned 85 on 9 February 1994; Finally, Bertold Hummel, who studied composition under Genzmer whilst at university in Freiburg im Breisgau, celebrates his 70th birthday on 27 November 1995. Furthermore, Hummel’s organ work ‘In Memoriam Anton Bruckner’ pays tribute to one of the most significant composers of the 19th century, the centenary of whose death falls on 11 October 1996. Both this tribute to Bruckner and Genzmer’s “Tageszeiten”, recorded by Wolfgang Hörlin in April 1995 on the Albiez organ in Erlenbach am Main, are now available on recording for the first time.
