In Memoriam Anton Bruckner, op. 91a
Organ works by Hindemith, Genzmer and Hummel
This organ CD arose from the desire to honour the remarkable coincidence of several birthday anniversaries in the years 1994-1996. 16 November 1995 marks the hundredth anniversary of Paul Hindemith's birth; Harald Genzmer, who joined Hindemith's circle in 1928, turned 85 on 9 February 1994; finally, Bertold Hummel, who studied composition with Genzmer in Freiburg/Breisgau, celebrated his 70th birthday on 27 November 1995. In addition, Hummel's organ work "In Memoriam Anton Bruckner" honours one of the most important composers of the 19th century, the centenary of whose death is due on 11 October 1996. Both this Bruckner homage and Genzmer's "Tageszeiten", recorded by Wolfgang Hörlin on the Albiez organ in Erlenbach/Main in April 1995, are now available on disc for the first time.
