The Notturno for piano op. 75b, which aims to convey the impressions of a tropical night, was written in 1982 for Das Neue Klavierbuch published by Schott. The permanent alteration of the original material allows the intended contrasts to be achieved in the smallest of spaces without jeopardising the coherence of the piece. A relaxed night-time mood is only achieved in the final bars.
