op. 59b, II Andante sostenuto - Formal arrangement:
A bars 1-19
B bars 20-33
A' (recapitulation) bars 34-45
Coda bars 46-48
A = 16 bars, each with 2-bar phrases that develop melodically. Bars 18+19 are a reminder of the first two bars
B = from bar 20 onwards, a new idea gains influence over a pedal point on the note A. Bars 25+26 return to the first bar of the movement.
From bar 27, the 2nd idea appears above the organ dot on the note D. Bars 32+33 return to the 1st bar and are considered a transition to the A' = recapitulation, which comprises 12 bars, now starting from the root note G.
Coda = The coda returns to the original tonality and brings the melody of bars 1+2 augmented and with the accompanying function of the beginning to a pp conclusion.
