The Burleske for piano and chamber orchestra op. 13g was commissioned by the small entertainment orchestra Südwestfunk Baden-Baden in 1956. The following year, it was produced for SWF in Freiburg with this orchestra under the direction of Willi Stech, who also took on the solo part. The concise and witty concert piece is beautifully orchestrated and characterised by brisk changes of time signature, which always come to rest in a little waltz melody.
