As choirmaster, Bertold Hummel contributed his own setting of the Easter Alleluia verse for four-part choir and trumpet. The piece is characterised by large, mostly monophonic melismatic arches whose origins clearly point to Gregorian chant practice. The instrumental part provides alternating and imitative intonation support and jubilant counterpoint.
